WATERTOWN, NY — Ann Marie Smith, 81, lost her long battle with legionnaires disease in the early morning hours of May 16, 2018.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont, NY.
She was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Watertown where she was a longtime resident.
When she is thought of, she will be remembered for her thoughtful, kind, caring, generous, and loving person.
Ann was a homemaker who liked to play Bingo, crocheting, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband George Smith Sr., her parents Nial and Marie Lattimore Sweet, her two sons David and Timothy Smith, her sisters Nyla Cleaver, Lucy Sander, her brothers Nial Sweet, Clifford Sweet, Earl Sweet, her sister-in-law Edith Sweet, and brother-in-laws Bud Fleming and Ernie Forkell.
Surviving are three sons, Douglas (Sherry) Smith of Watertown, George (Nina) Smith Jr. of Three Mile Bay, Daniel (Kathy Rushlow) Smith of Dexter; two daughters, Christine (Robert) Watters of Watertown and Lori (John) Bingham of Biloxi, Mississippi; a brother, Victor Sweet of Dempfers, Virginia; three sisters, Flora (Jane) Fleming of Clayton, Linda Helmer of Rome, Donna Forkell of Watertown; and a sister-in-law, Mavis Sweet of Watertown.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Northern New York for providing our mother comfort, respect, and dignity until her passing.
There will be a memorial service 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, 12007 State Route 12E, Chaumont. A private family burial will be at a later date.
