EVANS MILLS, NYÂ – Blaine J. Delaney, 69, of N. Main Street, Evans Mills, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family.
Blaine was born on May 17, 1949, in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, the son of Thorold and Eleanor (Baron) Delaney. He was one of five children. Blaine attended Alexandria Central School and went on to work as a Finish Carpenter for D.C. Builders.
He married Patricia E. Farrell on Nov. 9, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Evans Mills.
Blaine is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia; three children, Randy (Courtney) Delaney of Philadelphia, NY; Shelly (Ed) Aftuck of Bradford, NY; Michael (Yuko) Delaney of Syracuse; a sister, Joan (Dale) Sweitzer of Central Square; a brother, Dwight Delaney of Evans Mills; and six grandchildren, Jordan, Paige, Brynn, Ellie, Makoto, and Emma.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Brian A. Delaney who died in 2015, and Daniel T. Delaney who died in 2017.
Blaine was a classic car enthusiast who enjoyed working on his 1968 Chevelle SS. He never had idle hands and was always working on something. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Northridge Cremation Chapel, 31291 Town Line Rd., Philadelphia. A memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel at 6 p.m. with Mike Babcock officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Evans Mills Fire Hall, 8615 Leray St., Evans Mills, NY 13637.
