DEXTER, NY — Brenda S. Mehaffy, 62, Dexter, NY, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 6, 2018, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
Born Oct. 19, 1955, in Potsdam, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Lamb Orford, she graduated from General Brown High School and received an associate’s degree in business from Jefferson Community College
Brenda was the secretary at the General Brown Central School Bus Garage for several years.
Brenda married Lynn D. Mehaffy on Aug. 5, 1979, in Watertown.
She lived in Dexter. She loved camping, sailing, quilting, crafting, knitting, and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband Lynn and three children; Sara Mehaffy of Dexter, Matthew Mehaffy of Adams and Lucas Mehaffy of Dexter. She also has two grandchildren. Sisters and brothers include: Kippy Lamb of Dexter, Tommy Fenton of Watertown, Debra Zimmer of Dexter, Laurie Orford of Dexter, Julie Orford and Ray Ives of Adams, Cynthia Orford and Dan Hutchinson of Rutland and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
