Brian M. Whitney, 55, Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY –Brian M. Whitney, 55, of Warner Drive, Carthage, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at his home.

Born Jan. 19, 1963, in Gardena, California, a son of Lawrence Wallace Whitney and Sandra Kay (Newberry) (Whitney) Dock, he graduated in 1980 from West Torrance High School.

He has lived in various places, including Tulsa, Okla., in 1981 and Anniston, Ala., in 1982. He moved to Carthage, New York in 2014.

He retired as a SGT First Class of the United States Army at Fort Drum, NY.

On July 7, 2018, he married Aimee Giambra.

Brian had a love for photography, nature, animals and people. He was always able to find beauty amongst the darkness.

He is survived by his wife, Aimee; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Butch Dock of Washington; two daughters, Jessica L. Whitney, San Angelo, TX, and Christina Michelle Whitney, Westminster, CO; a son, Lawrence Alexander Whitney and his fiancée Alana Belle Riley, Jackson, TN; two stepsons, Paul Giambra III, Greeley, CO, and Stanley Giambra, Loveland, CO; a sister, Rhonda Tangye, Evans, CO; an aunt, Kathleen Johnson, Lawrence, MA; a dog companion, Stella; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. There will be a gathering at the Carthage VFW Post 7667 immediately following the service on Friday.
