Vanessa is the daughter of Marion and Duane Hess of Adams Center and Joseph Docteur of Cape Vincent. Vanessa is a 2005 graduate of South Jefferson Central School and a 2009 graduate of SUNY Oswego where she earned her B.A. in Psychology. She is employed by Jefferson Rehabilitation Center in Watertown as a Therap Coordinator.

Matthew is the son of Robert and Debra Siver of Brownville. Matthew is a 2002 graduate of General Brown Central School and a 2007 graduate of SUNY Potsdam where he earned his B.A. in Economics. He is employed by Development Authority of the North Country in Watertown as a Project Development Specialist.

Matthew proposed on Dark Island at Singer Castle where the couple spent the night celebrating.

Vanessa and Matthew reside in Clayton. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends, gardening together, and walking along the St. Lawrence River with their much loved dog, Wesley.

A wedding celebration with family and friends is planned for June 17, 2017 in Clayton.

Danielle Stover and Andrew Wren announce the birth of their son, Maddex Andrew Wren.

Maddex was born Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 7:16 p.m. at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. He was delivered by Dr.Cain and JoAnn Hill. He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 19 and 3 quarters inches in length.

Maddex’s maternal grandparents are Shelly Stover and Eugene “Sonny” Granger of Watertown. His paternal grandparents are Lucretia Wren of Black River and Anthony Wren of San Antonio, Texas.

Maddex was lovingly welcomed home by his big sister, Kinley, as well as their dogs, Oakley and Gxsr.

Jenna Rochelle Clarke & Ryan Shawn Hotaling

Mark and Amber Clarke, Sauquoit, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Rochelle Clarke, to Ryan Shawn Hotaling, son of Jay and Sondra Hotaling of Syracuse.

Ms. Clarke is a 2006 graduate of Sauquoit High School. She attended New York State University at Albany where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a double minor in Business Administration and Education in 2010. Ms. Clarke went on to obtain her Master’s degree from Marist College in Mental Health Counseling in 2012. Jenna is currently employed with ADP as a Senior District Sales Manager for the Capital Market in Albany.

Mr. Hotaling is a 2003 graduate of Onondaga Central High School. He attended Nazareth College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 2007. Ryan is currently employed with Dell Technologies - EMC Division as a Select Account Executive. Ryan also plays in the National Lacrosse League for the New England Black Wolves.

He and Jenna reside in Saratoga Springs. A September 2017 wedding is planned.

Jordan is the daughter of Joseph and Karen Beyer of Lowville. She is a 2009 graduate of Lowville Academy and a 2013 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, with a Bachelor's degree in Childhood and Early Childhood Education. She earned her Master's degree in Classroom Education from the University at Albany in 2015. Jordan is currently employed by Beaver River Central School District as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher.

Samuel is the son of Terence and Tatia Kennedy of Theresa. He is a 2006 graduate of Indian River High School and a 2008 graduate of The Wanakena Ranger School, with an Associate’s degree in Land Surveying. Sam is currently employed at Bernier and Carr and Associates as a project field manager and survey technician.


Jordan and Samuel currently reside in Lowville. They like spending time with family and enjoying the outdoors by hiking, camping, and snowmobiling.

Samuel proposed while on a hike to one of their favorite spots in Wanakena after a weekend of camping.

The wedding is planned for July 1, 2017.

The wedding was officiated by Andrew Capone, cousin of the bride. The maid of honor was Kristan Donoghue, sister of the bride. The best man was Dominic Lutz, brother of the groom. Their wedding party also had Andrea Lettiere, sister of the bride and Brandon Dahl, brother of the groom. The flower girls were Giovanna and Francesca, daughters of the bride and groom. The ring bearer was Braxton Erdner, Godson to the groom.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Brownville Legion.

The couple reside in Watertown with their daughters and are expecting another little girl due in January.

Gianna was blessed with meeting her Great-Bumpa, James L. Lawrence, Sr. before his passing on September 29, 2016.

Chris currently owns his own lawn care business Sharper Image Lawn Care, and is employed at Hometown Pizzeria.


Kayla and Chris currently reside in Adams with their pets Bill and Koda. They like spending time with family and enjoying the outdoors. A wedding is planned for September 16, 2017.

Jillian MaryElizabeth Young and Jeffery John Marra were married on June 4, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Watertown.

The ceremony was officiated by Msg. Robert Aucoin. Readings were provided by Rhonda Munroe, aunt and godmother of the bride, Paula Lipes, aunt of the bride, and Chelsey Lyng, cousin of the groom. A reception followed the ceremony at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel, Clayton.

Jillian, daughter of Daniel and Kerry Young, Watertown, is a 2010 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central School and earned an associate’s degree in Nursing from Jefferson Community College in 2013. She received a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Utica College in 2016 and is currently enrolled in a master’s degree program with SUNY Upstate Medical University in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Mrs. Marra is employed by Samaritan Medical Center where she is a registered nurse at The Maternity Place in labor and delivery.

Jeffery, son of Deanna Marra, Watertown, and the late Jeffery Marra, is a 2011 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central School, received an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Jefferson Community College in 2013, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Potsdam in 2015. Jeffery is employed by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision as a Correctional Officer.

Lindsey Williams and Hannah Connolly, cousin of the groom, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Adriana Spicer, Caitlin McGraw, and Paige Delaney, cousin of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Brynn Delaney and Lillian Reape, cousins of the bride. Flower girls were Ellie Delaney and Mallory Reape, cousins of the bride. Special attendants were Kaylee and Jenna Munroe, cousins of the bride.

Matthew Marra, twin brother of the groom, and Michael Marra, brother of the groom, were best men. Ushers were Matt Dermady, Andrew Guyette, and RJ Ingerson. Mason Beebee, Jase Ferguson, James Kellar, all cousins of the groom, were ring bearers.

The couple resides in Watertown.

Levi and Kimberly Passage celebrated their 30 years of marriage. They were married on October 18, 1986 at the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church, Great Bend.

Levi is the son of John and Estella Passage. Kimberly is the daughter of Helena Cough and Carey Koster.

Together they raised three children, Shawn, Tonya and Melissa. They have eight grandchildren.

They celebrated on October 15, 2016 at the VFW, together with their family and friends.

Chad is the son of Michael and Debra Weaver, Calcium and grandson of John and Clara Hermann, Calcium. He is a 1999 graduate from Indian River High School and Charles H. Bohlen Technical Center, BOCES. He is currently employed by Deline’s Auto Body.

The ceremony was officiated by Maureen T Slate. The Bride was escorted down the aisle by her father Tim Thompson. A reception immediately followed at the American Legion, Watertown.

Missy Ryan, sister of the bride, was the Maid of Honor; followed by bridesmaids Becky Romig, Megan Whitton, Angel Ryan, Brandi Taylor, Kaeleigh Hickox, friends, Hannah Cupernall, cousin of the groom, and flower girls Lynnsie Ryan, niece of the bride, and Abbigail Pickett, daughter of the bride.

Shawn Ryan, brother-in-law of the bride, was Best Man; followed by groomsman Jody Brown, Cory Ryan, Jimmy Ryan, friends, Erik Cupernall, cousin of the groom, Dylan Thompson, brother of the bride, Logan Ryan, nephew of the bride, Skylar and Gaven Pickett, sons of the bride.

Cory is the son of Tawny Calhoun and Jay Ferguson. Kelsey is the daughter of Tim and Cheryl Pacific. Cory is currently employed as a painter with Peterson’s Painting. Kelsey is currently employed as a patient access clerk at River Hospital.

Kristin is the daughter of Michael and Margaret Puccia. Adam is the son of Thomas and Sue Storino. The couple resides in Watertown.

Kelsey, daughter of Stephen and Mollie Brand, graduated in 2007 from Immaculate Heart Central School, and in 2011, magna cum laude, from SUNY Potsdam with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She received a master's degree in literacy in 2014 from SUNY Potsdam. Mrs. Day is a second grade teacher at Copenhagen Central School.

Christopher, son of John and Melanie Day, graduated in 2005 from Watertown High School and in 2009, summa cum laude, from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education. He received a master's degree in literacy from SUNY Oneonta in 2013. Mr. Day is a social studies teacher at Copenhagen Central School.

Shelby and Maddy Brand, sisters of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Rajani Day, sister-in-law of the groom, Kaitlin Backus, cousin of the groom, Brooke Boulter and Molly Lashomb.

Ryan Day was his brother's best man. Groomsmen were Martin Lamon Jr., cousin of the groom, Jacob Backus, Stuart Schmitt, Benjamin Greene, and Seth Musselman.

Emily is the daughter of Steve and Reata Castor of Glen Park. She is a 2007 graduate of General Brown Central School. She received a B.S. degree in Early Childhood/Childhood Education (B – 6) from SUNY Potsdam in 2012. Emily obtained her Master’s Degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Potsdam in May 2013. She is currently employed within the South Jefferson School District where she is a Kindergarten Teacher.

Matthew is the son of Jeffery and Karen Rudd of Rodman. He is a 2006 graduate of South Jefferson Central School. He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from SUNY Potsdam in 2010. He is currently employed with Rudds Town and Country/Rudds Spray Service as a Spray Technician.

Shane Cashel was the best man; followed by groomsmen, Greg and Jason Rudd, Jesse Frederick and Danny Graves. Jennifer Grace was the maid of honor; followed by bridesmaids, Chanelle Goodfriend, Jamie King, Stacey Frederick, Rachel Rudd and junior bridesmaid Abigail Rudd. The couples son, Lucas, was the ring bearer and Deegan Lowe was the flower girl.

The new Mr. & Mrs. Rudd currently reside in Rodman with their son, Lucas and dog, Cato. They went on a week long honeymoon to Maine stopping in Portland and Old Orchard Beach.

His maternal grandparents are Kurt and Maureen Robbins of Watertown and his paternal grandparents are James and Christine Dickson of Clayton. Jimmer was also welcomed home by his aunt and uncle, Jake and Kaitlin Backus, and his cousin Julian.

Morgan Leigh LaSage and David Christopher Pitre we married August 27, 2016 at the 1000 Island Harbor Hotel officiated by Richard Parker, witnessed by their family and friends.

Morgan is the daughter of Steve and Tammy LaSage of Dexter. She graduated from General Brown in 2013. She received her associates degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from Jefferson community college. She is currently employed at Key Bank.

David is the son of Rick and Crystal Pitre of Brownville. He also graduated from General Brown in 2013. He received his associates degree in Business Administration from Jefferson Community college. He is currently employed at Fed Ex.

Zechariah Pitre was the best man; followed by groomsmen, Joseph and Noah Pitre and Jonathan Wells. Megan LaSage was the maid of honor; followed by bridesmaids, Taylor and Eleni Pitre and Jenna Ritz. Jenna's daughter, Bristol, was the flower girl.

The new Mr. & Mrs. currently reside in Dexter with their two dogs, Beau and Hank. They went on a week long family-moon cruise to the Caribbean with nine of their family members.

Mr. & Mrs. Charles G. Solar - 69 Years

Mr. & Mrs. Charles G. Solar, 1010 James St., Clayton, observe their 69th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

Charles Glenn Solar, son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John Solar, and Gertrude Marie Riches, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Ulysses Riches were married on September 28, 1947 at the Alexandria Bay Methodist Church with the Rev. Lisle B. Caldwell officiating. Attendants were the late John Solar, brother of the bridegroom and the late Ida Welsh Silver.

Mrs. Solar graduated from Alexandria Central School in 1943. She retired from the former Graphic Controls, Clayton in 1988. She is a Charter Member of the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and past District Deputy of the Thousand Islands Rebekah Lodge 109.

Mr. Solar graduated from Clayton Central School in 1941. He served in the US Army during World War II. In 1984, he retired as Superintendent of the Village of Clayton Department of Public Works. He was honored as Clayton’s First Citizen of the Year in 1970. In 2011, he was named Honorary Dock Master in recognition and honor of his dedicated and outstanding service to the Clayton Community. Mr. Solar is a member of the American Legion Post 821, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 328, and is a 75 year active member of the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department, of which he has been President, Vice President and Chief. From the time of his retirement, until June 2011, he served as Village Crossing Guard in Clayton.

Mr. and Mrs. Solar have two sons, William C., Clayton and Robert G and his wife Sandy of Lovingston, VA. They have seven grandchildren: Brian (Pam) Solar; William (Beth) Solar, II, , all of Clayton; Kristi Bice of Watertown; ; Erin Solar of Altoona PA; Michael (Bekah) Solar of Belleville; David Solar and Robert (Sarah) Solar, Jr. of Lovingston, VA. They are also the proud great-grandparents of Dylan Bice, 18, Kristen Solar, 17; Kassidy Bice, 16; Alexa Solar, 14; Trevor Harkinson, 12; Katelyn Solar, 12; Chayse Harkinson, 9; Cooper Solar, 6; Gretchen Solar, 4 and Edwin Solar, 10 months.

Nicole and Michael Brotherton, of Carthage, announce the birth of their son, Blake Owen Brotherton.

Blake was born May 24, 2016 at 1:40 a.m. He weighed 6 lbs. 13oz. and measured 20 inches long.

Blake's paternal grandmother is Gail Brotherton, of Carthage. His maternal grandparents are Valerie McCall and AJ McCall, both of Lowville.

Blake was welcomed home by his big sister, Aubrianna.

Brittany Nicole Burns and William Walpole Griffin were married on July 8, 2016 at St. Mary’s Church, Clayton. Officiating the ceremony was the Rev. Brother Jacob Bertrand Janczyk, friend of the bride and groom. Meghan McKay, violinist and cousin of the bride, provided the music. A reception followed the ceremony at the Thousand Islands Harbor Hotel, Clayton.

The bride is the daughter of Mike and Karen Burns, Watertown. The groom is the son of James and Cecilia Walpole Griffin, Columbia, CT.

Matron of Honor was Malory (Green) Saki and Pamela Heaney was the Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Catherine and MyLinh Griffin, sisters of the groom, Sarah and Amy Burns, cousins of the bride, and Meaghan Lass.

Best Men were Miles Gasek and Will Pratt. Groomsmen were Greg Burns, brother of the bride, Joe and Larry Felix, cousins of the groom, Ken Walshak and Arquimedes DelaCruz.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of South Jefferson Central School and a 2010 graduate of Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY. She received her Master’s Degree in educational psychology from Marist College in 2011 and has been employed as a fourth grade teacher at Copenhagen Central School. She is currently a fifth grade teacher in the Colchester, CT Public School District.

The groom is a 2008 graduate of East Catholic High School, Manchester, CT. He graduated from Marist College in 2012 and received his Master’s Degree in educational psychology from Marist College. He is employed as a teacher at Explore Charter School, Brooklyn.

The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Charleston, South Carolina.

Sarah Marie Sholette and Jeffrey Scott Bancroft were married August 20th, 2016 In a beautiful riverfront ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents.

Sarah graduated from Watertown High School in 2003. She is employed by Kinney Drugs and Carthage Central School District. Sarah is the daughter of Brad and Jennifer Sholette of Watertown.

Jeff Graduated from Watertown High School in 1986. He was a Professional Firefighter for the City of Watertown Fire Dept. until his retirement in 2007. Jeff is the son of Frederick and Patricia Bancroft of Watertown.

Together the couple has three children, Joshua, Brandon and Anya.

Linda Wiltse officiated the ceremony, which was held on the shore of the beautiful Black River at the home of the bride’s parents. The ceremony was followed by an outdoor reception.

Brooke Sholette, sister of the bride, was Maid of Honor. Anya Taylor, daughter of the Bride, was Flower Girl. Tucker Sheperd, nephew of the Bride, was ring bearer. Joshua Bancroft and Brandon Bancroft, sons of the groom, were Best Men.

The happy couple resides in Watertown with Anya, Brandon and their two dogs, Bear and Nikki.

Amanda is the daughter of Daniel and Linda Muters of Marcellus. Amanda is a 2004 graduate of Marcellus High School and a 2008 graduate from Syracuse University with a degree in Child and Family Studies. She is currently employed at The House of the Good Shepherd.

Martin Jr. is the son of Martin and Marta Lamon of Watertown. He is a 2000 graduate of Watertown High School, a 2003 graduate of Jefferson Community College with a degree in Liberal Arts, and a 2012 graduate of SUNY Empire State College with a degree in Community and Human Services. He is currently employed by Frito-Lay.

Their ceremony was officiated by Amanda's Aunt, Sheila Muters. The Matrons of Honor were Stacie Titus and Reanna Streeter, best friend and cousin of the Bride, and the Best Men were Ryan And Chris Day, cousins of the Groom.

Jennifer is the daughter of John and Candy Damon, Watertown. Jennifer graduated from Watertown High School in 2001. She received her A.S degree from JCC in 2003. She then graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2006 with a B.S in Hotel/Resort & Restaurant Mgmt. She is currently employed at Renzi Foodservice as a Category Manager.

Bradley is the son of Doug Halladay and step son of Peggy Halladay, Lowville. Bradley graduated from Carthage High School in 2001. He is currently employed with Aarons as an Accounts Manager.
Danyelle Brown was the Maid of Honor; followed by bridesmaids Ashley Kerr, Rebecca Wright, Heidi Hirschey, Stacey Scee and Jean Didas. The newlyweds had their daughter Abigail Halladay as the Flower Girl.

Dustin Makuch was the Best Man; followed by the groomsmen Derek Matuszczak, Kyle Ritz, Aaron King, Shawn Romeo and Lonnie Shippee. Jameson Wright, son of Rebecca and Bruce Wright, was the Ring Bearer.
The couple currently resides in their home in Sackets Harbor and went on a weeklong honeymoon to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Dylan is the son of Tim and Mary Thompson of Adams Center. He is a 2015 graduate of South Jefferson Central and is employed at Cheney Tire in Watertown.

A November 2, 2018 wedding is planned.

Harry E. & Sharon J. Potter - 60 Years

 

On September 8, 1956 Harry E. Potter and Sharon J. Gassman were joined in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Attica with the Rev. Donald Buddle officiating. Mr. Potter is the son of the late George and Olive Potter of Sidney, Maine. Mrs. Potter is the daughter of the late Howard and Edith Gassman of Attica.

The couple met in 1954 when Mr. Potter came to work as a Soil Conservationist in Batavia following graduation from the University of Maine. Mrs. Potter was working for the Ag Department of Genesee County Cooperative Extension, which was across the hall from the Soil Conservationist office. It was not long before a romance began.

After their marriage, the couple located in Berlin, New York where Mr. Potter had taken a job as an engineer on the Little Hoosick Watershed. It was in 1967 that Mr. Potter was appointed District Soil Conservationist for Jefferson County and they moved to Watertown and bought property at 27256 Perch Lake Road, Watertown where they still reside. They are the parents of three children, Jeffrey of Aurora, Illinois; Jon of Wheatland, Wyoming and Ellen Shannon of Effingham, New Hampshire. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mr. Potter retired from the Soil Conservation Service in 1982, but remained active on many agricultural related committees. He served on the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors for several years and held various positions on the Town of Pamelia Planning Board for 30 years. He has been a member of Maine Masonic Rural Lodge #53 since 1953.

Mrs. Potter attended Keuka College. She was a stay-at-home Mom while raising their family and then worked part time at various local law firms. She has been part time parish secretary for the Dexter/Brownville United Methodist Church for 37 years. She belongs to Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Ladybugs Red Hats and a book group at Flower Memorial Library.

The couple enjoyed raising sheep for nearly 50 years and hosting many school and pre-school field trips. They enjoy reading, gardening, traveling, have an avid interest in nature and are very active in their church. They feel very blessed to have reached this milestone and the many friendships they have made along the way.

Mitch is the son of Richard Robinson and the Late Margaret Lallier Robinson formerly of Beaver Falls. He attended BRCS until 1977 and graduated from LaFargeville Central School in 1978, and is currently the Pastor at Fairmount Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

The couple with be married November 26 at the Ridge View Inn and will subsequently make their home in Croghan.

She is also a 2015 graduate of Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage and a 2016 graduate of Jefferson Community College, with an Associates in Business Administration. She currently works at Urban Nature Spa and Salon as a Massage therapist and nail technician, and at Kinney Drugs.

Kaleb is the son of Eric and Angie Loar of Theresa. Kaleb is also a 2014 graduate of Indian River. Kaleb attends Clarkson University for Computer Science and Mathematics and will graduate in 2018. He is currently working at Lowe’s while he attends school.

The couple enjoy watching Penguins Hockey, Steelers Football and being outdoors. A wedding is planned for May of 2017.
