ADAMS CENTER, NY — Donald R. Fawdry, 82, of Adams Center, NY passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Born Sept. 6, 1935, in Sackets Harbor, the son of Emerson and Dora Kersey Fawdry, he attended Sackets Harbor High School.
On June 9, 1956, he married Dolores P. Staie. The couple lived in Sackets Harbor until 1994 when they moved to Adams Center.
Don drove truck for several trucking firms in the area and retired from UPS in 1990. Don and Dolores also opened, owned and operated Cracker Barrel Grocery Store in Sackets for several years.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 687.
He enjoyed fishing and boating with his Lyman boat and building three homes over the years.
He is survived by his wife Delores, two children; Michael Fawdry who resides in Corpus Christie, Texas with his wife Catherine and Gabrielle Dickinson of Henderson. He has four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He has two sisters Jolene Gooding who resides in Adams Center and Sue Ann Fleming of Black River.
Funeral arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. There will be no funeral or calling hours as per his request. Burial will be July 6 in Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor.
