Douglas R. Savage, 74, Redwood

REDWOOD, NY — Douglas R. Savage, 74, of Lake Street, Redwood, passed away early Thursday morning at Samaritan Keep Home where he had been a patient since December 3, 2018.

Douglas was born in the town of Alexandria on Oct. 23, 1944, the son of C. Harvey and Viola Dunn Savage. He graduated from Redwood High School and then served in the United States Navy from Sept. 13, 1962, until Feb. 21, 1966, during the Vietnam War.

He married Carol Booth on Aug. 24, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Redwood. Mrs. Savage passed away on May 27, 2014.

Douglas was a maintenance foreman at Crowley Foods in LaFargeville for 42 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Michael (Tracy) Stephenson and Jackie Brown, both of Redwood; two sisters, Janice (Charles) Atkinson, Redwood, and Kathy Reichel, Virginia; two brothers, Carl (Sadie) Savage, Theresa, and Alton Savage, Colorado; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, C. Harvey and Viola Savage and brothers, Charles and Robert Savage.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Allan Ferguson officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County.
