CHAUMONT, NY — Edith Ilean Bancroft, 95, Chaumont, passed away Monday, May 14, at Hospice of Jefferson.

Edith was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Kingston, Ontario, a daughter to the late Frederick and Ethel Comper Millard.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, in Brownville Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Edith is survived by her children, Frederick (Patricia) Bancroft, Watertown, Kathie Grant, Watertown, and Robert (Sarah) Bancroft, Chaumont; her grandchildren, Adam, Carrie, Erica, Jeff, Kimberly, Kris and Bill; and several great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Barry Kelly and a sister and brother-in law, Doreen and Jerry Carr.
Edith worked for many years as a ward secretary at Samaritan Medical Center.
She loved knitting, fishing, gardening and was once active with the Girl Scouts.
