Fort Drum man arrested for rape of 16-year-old, troopers say

WATERTOWN, NY — Michael Estes Jr, 21, Fort Drum, NY, was charged by state police on Monday, Sept. 24, with third-degree rape (class E felony), third-degree criminal sexual act (class E felony), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (class A misdemeanor).

An investigation determined that earlier this month, Estes was involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old child on Fort Drum, troopers said.

He was arraigned in the Town of LeRay Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.

He is scheduled to reappear 2 p.m. Sept. 27, in LeRay Town Court.
