Fort Drum man charged with aggravated DWI on I-81, deputies say

ELLISBURG, NY — Jack L. Tate, 23, Fort Drum, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at mile marker 137 in the southbound lane of Interstate 81 in the town of Ellisburg with aggravated driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and crossing hazard markings.

His blood alcohol content was 0.19 percent, deputies said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI, which carries harsher penalties upon conviction, is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or greater.

He is summoned to appear in Ellisburg Town Court.
