Gary W. Brown Jr., 47, Adams

ADAMS, NY — Gary William Brown Jr., 47, recently of Adams, NY, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, following a brief illness.

Born June 3, 1971, in Watertown, the son of Gary and Virginia Denning Brown Sr., he graduated from General Brown Central and took some college courses.

He was a member of VFW of Watertown, Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with his father and was very active in International Shooting, winning several competitions as a member of the New York State Corrections in his 24 years of service.

He was also a very accomplished artist and could make just about anything by hand.

He enjoyed playing General Brown football, creating wood carvings, pack baskets, leather-crafts, Loved his dogs Duke and Cora and enjoyed NASCAR and the outdoors.

Gary worked for the New York State Corrections Dept. as a weapons and chemical agent instructor.

Surviving are three sisters, Mary and Paul Grant of Watertown, Lura Kinne of Adams Center and Tina and Mike Goodwin of Brownville.  He has six nephews , aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Gary Sr. and Virginia Brown.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.  Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
