SACKETS HARBOR, NY — Gerald Harry Holman, 72, Sackets Harbor, passed away Saturday, July 7, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.
Mr. Holman is survived by his wife Alice, Sackets Harbor; a son, Kevin Lee Holman, Otis Orchards, WA; brother, Donald H. Holman, Adams; stepson, John R. Coleman, Adams; nephew, Clement J. Grieco III, CA; niece, Carolyn Griffin, GA; and his best friend Mila.
Jerry married Alice Henderson Coleman on Sept. 30, 1990.
A previous marriage to Connie Grieco ended in divorce.
Born June 12, 1946, in Watertown, a son to Herbert D and Nellie Ripley Holman. He was educated in Adams schools.
Jerry served with the US Air Force from 1963-1967. He was a member of the 556th Red Horse Squadron at the Royal Tai Navy-Air Force Base in U-Tapao.
Following his honorable discharge from the military, Jerry returned to the north country and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Lettiere Construction and Tug Hill Construction until his retirement. He was a New York State licensed crane operator, held a NYS explosives license and a NYS Blasters certificate of competence.
Jerry was a target shooting enthusiast and a member of the Sackets Harbor Sportsman Club. He was well known for his mechanical skills and enjoyed helping friends with their projects.
A “Celebration of Greatness” will be held at a later date. Per his wishes, there are no calling hours.
