Harold  J. Hoffman, 88, Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY – Harold  J. Hoffman, 88, of  Lowville, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 5, 2018 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, surrounded by his loved ones.

A funeral service with Military Honors will be held 4 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Jay Seymour and Rev. Mr. Tom Yousey, officiating. A celebration of Harold’s life will be held at the Lowville VFW immediately following the funeral services.  Calling hours will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at the funeral home.

Born Aug. 5, 1929, in Lowville, a son of the late Valentine S. and Grace Hanno Hoffman, he graduated from Lowville Academy and Utica School of Commerce. He was drafted in the U.S. Army serving from 1951 to 1953 , during the Korean War. He atteneded Rochester Business Institute and Harpur College in Binghamton.

He was a self-employed cheese maker at Hoffman and Dudo Inc., retiring in 1990.

Harold was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, where in his younger years, he was very active, participating with all phases of the St. Peter’s Festival since the first festival, working the church bingo and was a greeter before Mass.

He was a lifetime member of  BPOE #1605, Lowville Elks Lodge where he was a past Exalted Ruler, a life member of the VFW Post #6912, and a life member of the Lowville American Legion #162.

Harold loved to dance, hunt, spend time at Brantingham, and enjoy all that life had to offer.

Surviving are his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Dianne; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and James Wessel of Rostraver  Township, PA; his grandson, Jacob Wessel and his granddaughter, Peighton Wessel, the apples of his eye; 2 sisters-in-law, Dolores Hoffman of Lowville and Bethany Hoffman of Massena; 3 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeannette and Maurice Murphy of Lowville, Denyse and Dennis Dening of Lowville, Helene and Kevin Aubel of Baldwinsville; a brother-in-law, Donald Voyer of  Victor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by 5 siblings, Russell (Jane) Hoffman, Virgina (Rollian) Martin, Lowell Hoffman, Leonard Hoffman, and Mary Hoffman who died in infancy.
