DEXTER, NY — Helen Rachael Gates, 89, of Dexter, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 9, 2018.
Helen was born March 14, 1929, in West Carthage, NY, the daughter of Laura LaLonde and Glenn Pierce.
She is survived by her husband Harry R. Gates of 70 years; two sons, Daniel (Candy), Michael and Debbie and daughter-in-law, Jan; a sister, Marylyn (Peanut) Burto; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Helen was predeceased by a son, David (1999) and sister Evelyn Potter.
The couple resided in Carthage until 1988 at which time they moved to Pillar Point and retired.
Helen’s legacy was to serve Christ, love her husband and the people around her.
A graduate of Carthage Central School. Helen worked as a Technician for St. Regis Paper in Carthage and later worked at Carthage Central School in the cafeteria.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 24 at Airport Christian Fellowship Church. All are welcome to attend.
