Jenna Mae Deveines, 30, formerly of New Bremen

NEW BREMEN, NY — Jenna Mae Deveines, 30, of Cranston, Rhode Island, and formerly of New Bremen, passed away on Nov. 13, 2018.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at First Mennonite Church, New Bremen, with Ed Steckly, Pastor officiating. Calling hours are 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

Born June 21, 1988, in Watertown, NY, a daughter of Harold and Linda Mathys Deveines, she graduated with honors from Beaver River Central School in 2006 and excelled in softball.

Jenna graduated from Rhode Island College in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education.

At Rhode Island College, she played softball, and the team went to the Division III College World Series Tournament her freshman and sophomore years. Her junior year she was named to the Second Team All Little East Conference as a pitcher. For the next year after graduation, she did substitute teaching and went on to earn her master’s degree in Special Education at Providence College. She worked as a health/physical education teacher at Paul Cuffee Charter School in Providence and currently she was a Special Education teacher at John F. Deering Middle School in West Warwick, RI.

She continued her softball career as the pitching coach at Providence College for three years. Currently, she was coaching the 12U travel softball team, and was also providing private pitching lessons.

Jenna enjoyed traveling, hiking, and her two dogs Wrigley & Winnie.

She is survived by her parents, Harold and Linda; her two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jared and Brandy Deveines of Boonville; Dillen Deveines and his companion, Heather and family (Drew, Jordyn, Jared and Addison) of Lowville; his maternal grandmother, Mary Mathys of Castorland; niece and nephew, Jayda and Logan Deveines who loved their aunt JaJa, several aunts, uncles, a great aunt, and many cousins.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Arthur Mathys; her paternal grandparents, Harold and Emma Deveines.
