Julia E. Burns, 98, formerly of Wellesley Island

CANANDAIGUA, NY — Julia E. Burns, 98, formerly of Wellesley Island, NY, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2018, at the Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo, NY.

Born Sept. 25, 1920, in Collins Landing, NY, a daughter of Cyrus and Addie Collins Harden, she attended Alexandria Bay High School.

Julia married Alden Burns of Fineview, NY on Nov. 29, 1939. The couple farmed in Fineview until 1962, then owned and operated cottages and boat rentals, retiring in 1990. Alden died April 24, 1993.

She enjoyed carving ducks, crocheting, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Charles Coeny, Canandaguia, NY; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Burns, New Hartford, NY; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Her parents, her husband, a son, James Burns, two brothers, Claude Harden and James Harden, two sisters, Miriam Schram and Edith Towers, all died previously.

Burial at Riverside Cemetery, Wellesley Island, NY.

Memorial Services will be announced later in the spring.
