Julia M. “Julie” Cole, 86, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Julia M. “Julie” Cole, 86, of Watertown, passed away Monday evening, July 2, 2018, at Carthage Area Hospital.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 320 John St., Clayton. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the funeral home with Rev. Walter Giles presiding followed by burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery, town of Cape Vincent.

Julia was born in the town of Cape Vincent on July 6, 1931, daughter of William and Gertrude (Fisher) Turcott. She attended Clayton High School, received her GED in Harrisville, and her associates degree in Business Administration from JCC. On July 7, 1967 she married Maurice A. “Dude” Cole in Hallstead, PA and Mr. Cole died March 13, 1992.

She was a waitress in various Clayton restaurants, including McCormick’s, was a seamstress at Clayton Manufacturing Co., and an assembler at Faichney’s Instruments, Watertown. Most recently, Julia worked as a mortuary clerk on Ft. Drum. She enjoyed sewing and gardening in her spare time.

She is survived by a son, James H. Turcott and wife, Linda, Cape Vincent; daughter, Julie A. Bailey, Watertown; two stepdaughters, Keitha L. Peabody and husband, Dave, Harrisville and Delight M. Lee and companion, Tony Rouse, Raleigh, NC; 3 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a brother, Wendell Turcott, Stoney Brook, NC; a sister, Vyta Smith and husband, Stewart, Clayton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her husband, Dude, Julia was predeceased by her daughter, Alta Mary Turcott, who died in infancy; four stepsons, Charles Cole, who died in infancy, and Gardiner C., Myron A. “Mike”, and Terry D. Cole; four brothers, William, George, Kenneth, and Lyle Turcott;
