Kamley Maroun Sowan Habeeb, 95, of Scottsdale, AZ

CARTHAGE, NY — Kamley Maroun Sowan Habeeb, 95, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 3, 2018.

She was born in Carthage, NY, the daughter of Abdoo and Sophia Maroun. Her husband of 35 years, Victor Habeeb, died in 2006.

Her first marriage to George Sowan ended in divorce.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Braun, four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Her extended family includes Gloria Gardner, Nick Habeeb, Peter Habeeb, Vickie Kehne, who passed away in 2017, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She also has several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings Margaret Maroun, Nader Maroun, Malaky Johnson Winter, Gneme Myers, Ruth Bradley and Yasmin Schulz.

Kamley graduated from Augustinian Academy and became a telephone operator with the NY Telephone Co in 1946. She moved to Utica, NY in 1954 and later was promoted to Chief Operator. She retired as a Divisional Instructor after 26 years of service.

She and Vic wintered in Scottsdale and returned to Watertown each spring until Kamley permanently relocated to Scottsdale in 2006.

Kamley had a beautiful smile and enjoyed playing gin rummy, crossword puzzles, and her neighborhood activities.

A Funeral Mass was held in Scottsdale on Feb. 10, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she was a communicant. There will be a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at St James Church, Carthage.

Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery.
