GREAT BEND, NY — Katherine A. Clark, 98, Great Bend, and widow of Harold R. Clark, passed away Tuesday evening, May 29, at the Carthage Area Hospital following a brief illness.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown, with Pastor Darryl Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Mills Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the funeral home.
She was born in Newton Falls, May 26, 1920, a daughter to William and Hester DeFoe Files.
She married Harold R. Clark May 20, 1949. In her early years, Katherine worked at the Hotel Woodruff until stopping to raise her family. She also provided in home day care for many other children. Mr. Clark passed away Feb. 20, 1983.
Katherine was a life member of the Felts Mills VFW auxillary and was a former member of the American Legion.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her children, Ronnie Files, Great Bend, Frank (Kristine) Clark, Carthage, Oakley (Colleen) Clark, and Alice (David) Busler, all of Watertown, Mary Richards, Clayton, Peggy (Russell) Randall, Watertown, Betty (Thomas) Mooney, Enfield, CT, Tillie (Rick) Youngs, Clayton; 22 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Katherine was predeceased by a daughter, Cecilia Majo in August of 1988, a daughter-in-law, Charlene Files and a great granddaughter Kendal Stone. She was also predeceased by 8 sisters and one brother, Fern Files, Leon Fyles, Lena Coonrad, Evelyn Smith, Helen Hutt, Gladys Browne, Edna Gardner, Pauline Durant, Blanche Brent and Myrtle Parker.
