Larry R. Russell, 74, Croghan

CROGHAN, NY – Larry R. Russell, 74, of Pinetree Rd., Croghan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2019, while cutting wood at his home.

Larry was born on Jan. 1, 1945, in Fine, NY, a son of Eugene and Alice (McBroom) Russell. He graduated from Carthage Central School and went on to enlist in the United States Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant after 25 years of long and faithful service.

More recently, he worked for Lewis County in the maintenance department.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was also a New York Giants fan who loved cars and attending car shows.

Larry is survived by two sons, Phillip Russell of Syracuse and Derrick (Johanna) Russell of Syracuse; his mother, Alice Russell of Carthage; two brothers, Gentry (Eulina) Russell of Carthage and Gary Russell of the Town of Fine; and two grandchildren, Caiden Russell and Mersadiz Hayes.

He was predeceased by his father, Eugene Russell as well as two siblings, Gail and Roy Russell.

Calling hours will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019, at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service with military honors will immediately follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wayne Arnold officiating. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.
