Loretta A. Grunert, 73, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Loretta A. Anderson Grunert, 73, Watertown, and formerly of Sackets Harbor, died peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the ICU of Samaritan Medical Center.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1945. She was born on the day the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Her parents were Floyd & Irene (Gauthier) Anderson. She attended the Watertown Schools growing up and Jefferson Community College.

She owned & operated Lime Stone School of Horsemanship and Saddlery Shop as a teenager & younger woman. She taught the most unteachable horses how to be ridden & win awards. She was also a judge for horse shows all over the country in which she did a lot of traveling.

When she & her former husband Charles Grunert got together they eventually started Grunert’s Marina and her White Horse Gift Shop where she also owned, operated and ran Grunert’s Marina. She enjoyed traveling especially to Florida with her husband and daughter.

Surviving are two daughters, Charlene Grunert, Watertown, NY and Julie Killian, Mexico, NY.

She was a wonderful loving & caring mother and daughter. She loved animals. She loved life. She will be dearly missed. Per her wishes there will be no services but personal ceremonies are ok.
