Lucy C. Reff, 23, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY — Lucy C. Reff, 23, of Clayton passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.

Calling hours will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at St. Mary’s Church, 521 James St., Clayton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Mary’s Church. Spring burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery will be at a time and date to be announced.

Born April 23, 1995, in Watertown, the daughter of Mark A. and Laura E. Bogenschutz Reff, she was a 2014 graduate of Thousand Islands High School and a 2017 graduate of Jefferson Community College with an Allied Health Degree. Lucy was a medical student at Upstate Medical University in the Respiratory Therapy Department and was due to graduate in May.

She had worked as an employee at the Koffee Kove Restaurant and as a clerk at Reinman’s Department Store, both in Clayton, and was a dental office assistant in Syracuse. Currently, Lucy was a Respiratory Therapist at Upstate Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Crouse Hospital.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She was an altar server and enjoyed volunteering for events, which included the Booster Club and Food Fair. She had been a Girl Scout and through her school years, a soccer player.

Lucy also enjoyed dancing and had instructed in Hip Hop at the Tricia Clement Dance Studio.

She loved the outdoors, the River, boating and jet skiing, snowmobiling, exercising, and running.

She owned an American quarter horse, Miss Peppy Solo, known as Reba. Lucy enjoyed being an equestrian, competing in 4-H competitions, and was a member of both the Black River Valley and St. Lawrence Valley Horse associations.

She is survived by her parents, Mark and Laura Reff, Clayton; a brother, Joshua A. Reff, Clayton; paternal grandmother, Clara J. Reff, Clayton; maternal grandmother, Veronica A. Bogenschutz, Watertown; fiance, Skyler J. Weston, LaFargeville, his mother, Jana L. Robbins, LaFargeville and his sister, Shyanne L. Yelle, Brownville; her best friend and maid of honor, Jessie Seeger; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
