Man injured after pickup truck crashes into tree early Sunday in the town of LeRay, deputies say

WATERTOWN, NY — A man was injured early Sunday after crashing a pickup truck into a large tree along Route 3 in the town of LeRay, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Christopher J. Taddonio, 19, of 25704 Route 283, Watertown, fell asleep at the wheel of a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 3 near Riverbend Drive East at avout 1:44 a.m. Sunday causing the vehicle vehicle to veer off the roadway and strike a tree.

The vehicle was severely damaged and was towed from the scene by Crossman’s Towing.

Mr. Taddonio suffered injury to his right leg and right knee, deputies said. He was transported to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, for evaluation.

He was not issued any tickets, according to an accident report.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Black River Fire Department and Guilfoyle Ambulance.
