Marion Strough, 95, Plessis

PLESSIS, NY — Marion Strough left this world peacefully on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, to be with her beloved husband on what would have been their 72nd wedding anniversary. Her husband, Joseph, died October 22, 2011.

Marion was born January 25, 1923 in the town of Orleans, LaFargeville, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Eva (Stowell) Hax, Sr.  She was a native of LaFargeville and a 1941 graduate of LaFargeville High School.

On September 21, 1946, she married Joseph Greene Strough at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Theresa, NY.

Marion enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Whether it was a Sunday night game of pitch, or traveling to areas where a Marine Corp Reunion was held, or to visit with relatives and friends near and far.  She was always up for a cup of coffee at “Miss Laura’s Diner”.  She loved scratching those lotto tickets and spent many days going to ceramics.  She enjoyed the companionship of her beloved dogs and daily sightings of the hummingbirds that visited her feeders every season.

Marion is survived by her three children; Lori, of LaFargeville; Kevin of Catawba, VA; and Judy and her husband (Fred Calladine) of Clayton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Marion was predeceased by three brothers, Howard Hax, Karl Hax, Sr. and Hugh Hax, Jr.

Calling hours will be at 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, with Deacon Norma Gee, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookside Cemetery Association, c/o Jane Ferjet, Highland Avenue, Alexandria Bay, NY  13607.
