WATERTOWN, NY — Mark Stephen Zando passed away at the age of 57 on July 31, 2018, in Watertown, New York.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, NY.
Mark was raised on Elm Street in Watertown as one of four children of Louis A. and Rosemary (Stieve) Zando. In his youth, Mark was a gifted athlete, playing baseball as a pitcher and football as a quarterback. He was an avid skier. His close friend Deet described Mark’s skiing as like an artist sculpting snow. Mark’s daughters fondly remember skiing with their father.
Everyone who knew Mark knew that he had many layers, but he has many friends who love him for his ready smile, generosity, and compassion.
While living in Connecticut, Mark had a career as a surveyor. He proudly visited Italy while working in this capacity.
Mark is survived by two children Kelly Zando – Stratford, CT and Kourtney Zando (fiancé Ben Howarth) – East Lyme, CT; three sisters, Carol Hood (Tom) – Theresa, NY, Louise Caughey – Hellertown, PA, and Julie Zando-Dennis (Ghennifer) – Easton, PA; Nephew, Luke Caughey – East Falls, PA; and Nieces, Justina Neddo – Watertown, NY, Alice Caughey, Hellertown, PA.
A calling hour will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Cleveland Funeral Home, 404 Sherman Street, Watertown, NY. A memorial service begins at 4 pm. Mark’s family warmly invites all who loved him.
