Nancy J. Alexander, 75, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Nancy J. Alexander, 75, of Watertown and formerly of Brownville, passed away Monday evening, May 14, 2018, at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Johnson Funeral Home, 237 Williams St., Dexter. The funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Brownville United Methodist Church, 333 Brown Blvd, Brownville with Rev. Sally Boyea officiating. A private burial will take place at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.

Born Sept. 14, 1942, in Utica, N.Y., a daughter of Raymond and Beatice Coonradt Decker, she was a 1960 graduate of Ilion High School. She also graduated from Jefferson Community College in 1999 with a degree in Office Technologies/Administrative Assistant.

A marriage to Donald Alexander ended in divorce.

She was a member of the Brownville United Methodist Church.

She worked as a secretary in several locations, including the General Brown Central School.

Her greatest love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren, especially doing crafts, baking cookies and attending sporting events. She also enjoyed knitting hats for the newborns at Samaritan Medical Center.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Scott and Linda Alexander, Watertown, Steven and Susie Campos Alexander, Cornelius, NC, Michael and Tammy Alexander, Adams; a daughter and her husband, Dennis and Susan Richardson Woodbine, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Chase, Sierra, Savannah, Madesyn, Morgan, Mackenzie Alexander, Payton and Braden Richardson; a sister, Betty and William Rathbun, Ilion.

She was predeceased by a son, Kevin, a grandson, Garret, a sister, Debi, and a brother, Robert Decker.
