WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
It won’t be
long until hungry crowds flood the Tilted Kilt, an Irish
and Scotch-themed restaurant at 1050 Arsenal St., to take
in the variety of 24 beers on tap and experience the
service of the “great looking staff” of
negligibly-clothed waitresses.
The restaurant’s owners says most of the groundwork has
been laid for the restaurant’s opening on Monday.
“We saw a need in Watertown for more places to eat,”
Jody C. Garrett, co-owner of the restaurant said. “We
thought it would do well and it would be a good investment
and an opportunity for the jobs we’ll be creating.”
Doreen A. Garrett, who co-owns the restaurant with her
husband, said the idea of owning a Tilted Kilt franchise
came accidentally.
“I think we had, what, a seven-hour layover in Denver
one day,” Mrs. Garrett said. “We ended up eating at
the Tilted Kilt for three and a half hours in Denver and
said ‘We need to bring this back to Watertown.'”
The menu of “competitively priced” food in
comparison to other local restaurants, will contain
entrees ranging from “Big Arse Burgers,” to “Fat
Bastard’s Meatloaf Sandwich,” along with typical pub
food.
Worried that your favorite game won’t be on TV while
enjoying a brew or a burger?
In fact, just to be sure customers won’t have to go
without missing a game, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett will use both
satellite and cable service providers should one fail.
“We tried to include a lot of things that the franchise
didn’t have,” Mrs. Garrett said.
Tilted Kilt will also feature an outside dining patio
where customers will have the privilege to enjoy an
alcoholic beverage with their meal.
Mr. and Mrs. Garrett are anything but strangers to
entrepreneurship.
Mr. Garrett also owns Overhead Door Co. of Watertown, and
his wife owns Otis Technology, Inc., Lyons Falls, N.Y.
The Tilted Kilt will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday
through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and
Saturday.
