Rosemary A. Strough

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Rosemary A. Strough, 75, of Patterson Road, town of Pamelia, died Sunday, Jan. 1, at her home while under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. 

Born Oct. 28, 1936, in Gouverneur, the daughter of Carl A. and Mary E. Hughto Aldrich, she attended Gouverneur schools, graduating from Theresa High School in 1954. She also earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Lawrence University, Canton. 

She married Allen Strough on July 20, 1955, at Asbury Methodist Church in Watertown. 

Mrs. Strough taught third grade at Glen Park Elementary School and 5th grade in Dexter for the General Brown School District, retiring in 1996. 

The couple enjoyed traveling across the United States and Europe and boating on the St. Lawrence River. 

Survivors include fours sons and their wives, Allen, Jr. and Lori, Lowville, Jay J. and Judy, Mo., Bruce C. and Lynn, Watertown, and John A. and Judy, York, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Morris and his wife, Sharon, FL, Joel and his wife Sharon, Va., and Steve, Fla.

A sister, Marcia Shackelton, and a brother, Carl Aldrich, both died before her. 

Services will be private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa in the spring.
