Doris M. Cook

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Doris M. Cook, 85, formerly of Henry Keep Apartments, Watertown, passed Monday, Jan. 2, at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Sat., Jan. 7, at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.

Born July 17, 1926, in Syracuse, the daughter of James and Viola McDonald Perrigo, she graduated from Carthage High School.

She married Charles Richard “Dick” Cook on Jan. 31, 1946. The couple resided in Carthage. Mr. Cook passed in 1961. She then moved to Watertown in the late 1960s.

Mrs. Cook raised ten children, she was a head start teacher for a few years and performed clerical work for the March of Dimes. 

She enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles and embroidery.

Among her survivors are four sons and their wives, Richard and Wendy Cook, Georgia, David and Virginia Cook, Watertown, Steven and Phyllis Cook, Sarasota, Fla., and Bruce and Kathy Bray, LaFargeville; four daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Donald Knight, Chaumont, Sandra and Roy Johnson, Bridgeport, Conn., Penny Cook, Brownville, and Martha and James Scovel, Chaumont; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A twin son, Brian Bray, a daughter, Nancy L. Cook, and four sisters, Linda Greene, Leona Perrigo, Ruth Edge, and Grace Perrigo, all died before her.
