WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Eva B. Richards, 99, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, at Mercy of Northern New York where she had been a resident since March 2011. 

Born Aug. 19, 1912, in Ogdensburg, a daughter of Jesse and Minnie Haley Northrup. After schooling in a one room school house and Ogdensburg Free Academy.

She worked most of her life in restaurants including the Crescent Hotel, DeFrancos and Sholettes. In 1972, she retired from Chesborough Ponds. 

Mrs. Richards enjoyed walking, gardening and birding. 

She was a member of the AARP and American Legion Aux. Post #61. 

In 1935 she married Frederick Lalonde at the Presbyterian Church by Reverend McIntire. Mr. Lalonde died in 1984. They had three children;. a son E. Gordon Lalonde, Ogdensburg, two daughters Carolyn Buehlow, Brockville, Ont. And Gloria Cheney, Watertown, 

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a great great-grandchild in Germany, a great-grandchild in Brockville, Ont.; a niece and several nephews. 

Two brothers, James and Kenneth, and a sister, Eliza Jane Strader, all died before her. 

On July 21, 1972, she married Ward J. Richards. He died May 7, 1981. 

Services are at the convenience of the family.
