James H. “Pops” Allen, 91, of Cedar
Street, Morrisville, and formerly of Dingman Point, died
Monday, Jan. 2, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.
Born August 9, 1920 on Wellesley Island, NY, he attended a
one room school house there.
Mr. Allen served in the Army during World War II as a cook
and was honorably discharged.
He married Pearl Fram on Dec. 15, 1946. She died Aug. 30,
1994.
Mr. Allen was a member of the VFW in Theresa and several
local American Legions.
He volunteered to do repairs at St. Cyril’s Catholic
Church in Alexandria Bay.
He enjoyed fishing and bowling.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Jeanie
Donithan, Texas, and Mary and Charles Bumpus, Canastota;
eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren; nieces
and nephews.
A great grandson, Derrick Eggleston, three brothers, Harry,
Fran and Ken, and a sister, Marie Guadeloupe, all died
before him.
A spring graveside service will be held in Barnes Settlement
Cemetery, Alexandria Bay.
