— Arlene D. Crouch, 84, of Wealtha
Avenue, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, at the family homestead
surrounded by her family.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Reed
& Benoit Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Smith from the
First Baptist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in
North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m.
Monday and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home.
Born Jan. 8, 1927, in Watertown, a daughter of Earl K. and
Mabel Busler Cole, she was educated in Watertown schools.
She married James K. Crouch on July 10, 1943, in
Brownsville, Texas. Mr. Crouch, a retired NYSDOT mechanic,
passed away Nov. 2, 1990.
Mrs. Crouch worked as a fountain lady at Whalen's Drug Store
and Baker's Drug Store, both in Watertown. She was a
waitress at the Woolworth Restaurant and Hotel Woodruff.
Arlene was an aide at the Academy Adult Home until she
retired.
She was a volunteer at the Samaritan Keep Home and was
Volunteer of the Year at the Keep Home in 1991.
She enjoyed gardening and holding tent revivals on her
property.
Arlene enjoyed holding worship services at her home for the
past several years.
Surviving are a son and his wife, James K., Jr., and Nena,
Watertown; four granddaughters, Meredith (Bill) George,
Watertown, Bethany (Al) Baker, North Carolina, Melissa (Tom)
Paro, Cape Vincent, and Lyndsie (John) Thompson, Watertown;
11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Blair, Watertown; many
nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Gladys Cole, Watertown.
Two brothers, Lyle and Richard Cole, and a sister, Beverly
Cole, all died before her.
