Carol J. Scott

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y.  —  Carol J. Scott, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, at Hillcrest Hospital, with her daughters, Barbara and Marka, and son-in-law, Bob, by her side.

Born Jan. 20, 1930, in Alexandria Bay, the daughter of Merrick and Abbie Rogers, she was a lifelong resident of Alexandria Bay and attended the local school.

She married Walter C. Scott on July 2, 1948, at the Theresa Methodist parsonage, with the Rev. Myron E. Van Ornum officiating. They were married fifty-five years before Walter passed away on Feb. 2, 2004.

Carol was employed at Edgewood Resort in the housekeeping department for 21 years, until her retirement. She enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to travel and spend winters in Florida. 

She also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and going to the horse and dog tracks.

Surviving are a son, Larry, Alexandria Bay; four daughters, Marilyn Cannestra, Alexandria Bay, Barbara Scott, Columbia, S.C., Marka Fitzgerald, Greenville, S.C., and Marsha Fury, Willow River, Minn.; a brother, Gary Rogers, and a sister, Norma Knight. Carol also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A son, David Charles, a daughter, Sally Ann; two brothers, Grant and Gorman Rogers, and two sisters, Shirley Currie and Marlene Brown, all died before her.

There will be no calling hours. 

There will be a spring burial in Highland Park Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
