Justine M. Baskey, 100, formerly of Cape
Vincent, died Sunday, Jan. 8, at Quality Care Residential
Home in Goose Creek, South
Carolina.
Born Feb. 11, 1911, in Cape Vincent, the daughter of Truman
and Gertrud Humphrey Moore, she graduated from Cape Vincent
Schools.
She married Henry N. Baskey on Nov. 18, 1936, in Cape
Vincent. Mr. Baskey passed away Oct. 10, 1988.
Mrs. Baskey was a long
time employee of summer families starting with the Phinney
Family at Beechwood, then with the J.L. Johnston Family at
Stone House, and then with the Andrew McNally Family on
Wellesley Island, until her retirement.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Margo and Stanley
O’Brien, Goose Creek, S.C.; two grandchildren, Stanley
Jr., and his Wife, Kristen, and Lori Anne O’Brien; two
great-grandchildren, Stanley III and Evan O’Brien; two
nieces and three nephews; several cousins.
A brother, Richard Moore, a sister, Ruth Reynolds, a sister-in-law,
Eleanor Baskey, and a brother-in-law, Cecil Baskey, all died
before her.
Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at
Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape Vincent. A funeral service will
be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the United Church of
Cape Vincent with Rev. Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will
follow in Riverside Cemetery, Cape Vincent.
A reception will be held after the burial at Aubrey’s
Restaurant, Cape Vincent.
