Laura E. Cole

REDWOOD, N.Y.  —  Laura E. Cole, 88, of Farrell Road died Monday, Jan. 10, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, where she had been a patient since January 3. 

Born July 22, 1922, in the town of Alexandria, the daughter of Frederick and Mary Meisenheimer Sourwine, she graduated from Alexandria Bay High School. 

She married Glenn L. Cole on Aug. 28, 1943, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Redwood.

Mrs. Cole and her husband were lifelong farmers in the Redwood area.  She continued to be involved with the farm until her death.   

Mrs. Cole was a member of the North Redwood Ladies Group, Kirkland Grange and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Redwood. 

Survivors include a son, Ronald, Redwood; a daughter, Linda Cole, and her partner, Mary Hampton, Watertown; three granddaughters, Nancy Cole, Krista Jimenez and Amanda Cole, all of Redwood; and a great-granddaughter, Madilyn Jimenez who was “the light of her life”. 

Two brothers, Elmer and Frederick, a sister, Muriel Herlehy and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Cole, all died before her. 

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Redwood. Burial will be in Redwood Cemetery. A reception will follow at the IOOF Lakeside Lodge # 328, Main Street, Redwood. 

Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa.
