Beverly A. Virkler

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Beverly A. Virkler, 79, of Olmstead Road, Lowville, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 12, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where she was lovingly cared for by the third floor staff.

There will be no calling hours or funeral. Spring burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery, Watson. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

Born Feb. 24, 1931, in Lowville, a daughter of Charles and Elsie Bush Loson, she graduated in 1948 from Lowville Academy and Central City Business Institute in Syracuse in 1949.  

She worked in the Lewis County 4-H office, Kraft, and in the office at Lewis County Trust Company, before her marriage.  

She married Ralph S. Virkler on June 12, 1954, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Adrain J. Carroll, officiating. Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated a dairy farm on the Olmstead Road until their retirement in March, 1998. Mr. Virkler died Aug. 26, 2002.  

Beverly’s life-long passions were her vegetable and flower gardens and her home.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Thomas J. and Lisa Virkler, Watertown; a daughter and her husband, Jan Virkler and Jeffrey VanArsdale, N.J.; a grandson, David Virkler, Fredericksburg, Va.; a step-granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Jan and Morgan Waite, Watertown; a sister and her husband, Joyce and Charles Bellinger, Remsen; a sister-in-law and her husband, Jeane and Boyce Widrick, Herrings; nieces, nephews and cousins.
