LOWVILLE, N.Y. —
John
C. Aubel, 69, formerly of State Street, died Tuesday
afternoon, Jan. 17, at the Lewis County Residential
Healthcare Facility, where he has resided since Nov. 21.
A funeral Mass will be
said 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at St. Peter’s Catholic
Church, Lowville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor,
officiating. Spring burial with military honors
will be in the Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours are
from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Iseneker Funeral
Home, Inc., Lowville.
Born June 8, 1942 in
Utica, a son of the late Lynas and Florence Monnat Aubel, he
graduated in 1960 from Lowville Academy and served in the
Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1981.
He married Carol Stevens on July 9, 1966, at St. Peter’s
Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev. Philip Allen
officiating. She died April 13, 1993.
He received his associate’s degree in computers from
Jefferson Community College and worked for Lewis County
General Hospital for many years.
He served as Commander of the Lowville American Legion from
1995 to 1997 and from 1998 to 1999, and was a member of the
color guard team.
John enjoyed computers, watching the Washington Redskins
football and the Texas Rangers baseball.
Surviving are a daughter
and her husband, Bonita and Scott York of Turin; four
brothers and their spouses, Rodney F. and Mary Lou Monnat,
Sanbornville, N.H., Neal D. and Linda Aubel, Lowville, Gary
S. and Sharon Aubel, Forestport, and Kevin T. and Helene
Aubel, N. Syracuse; a sister, Linda F. Aubel-Edick, Chicago,
Illinois; four grandchildren, Wyatt, Lee, Ashley and
Caroline York; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, Lynn P. Aubel, and a sister, Cheryl A. Myron,
both died before him.
