Dennis J. Roy

GLENFIELD, N.Y.  —  Dennis John Roy, 83, of Stony Lake Road, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 19, at his home. 

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. 

Born July 7, 1927, in the town of Harrisburg, a son of Antoine and Mildred Johnson Roy, he graduated in 1945 from Lowville Academy. 

Mr. Roy worked for many farms in the area, the Slater Coal Company, and Nortz Distributing prior to driving milk truck for Les Liscum beginning in 1960. In 1962, he purchased his own truck, drawing milk to the Lowville Producer’s Dairy Co-Op for 31 years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Roy then went to work for South Lewis Central School, driving school bus for 10 years.  

He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, riding wheelers, and most of all his little dogs, Buffy and Mollie. 

Surviving are his wife, Dawn M. Burdick Roy; a daughter, Denyse S. Roy and her fiancé, Chad Hastwell at home; two stepsons, David L. and Sue Forte, Knoxville, Tenn., and Darwin C. Forte and Meghan McIntyre, Croghan; a stepdaughter, Desiree M. and Marc Russell of Lowville.  

A previous marriage ended in divorce. Children of that marriage are Dennis and Linda Roy, Lowville, Tony and Sue Roy, Lowville; Michelle and Ron Gingerich, Lowville, and Melissa and Mike Bush of New Bremen.   

Mr. Roy is also survived by a brother and his wife, Raymond and Sue Roy, Glenfield; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Marge Barker, Castorland, Audrey and Carl Fenton, Glenfield, and Charlotte “Tiny” Gerow, Lowville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

Mr. Roy was predeceased by twin sons who died shortly after birth. He is also predeceased by his parents and a sister, Barbara Mannville.
