— Mark
David Nichols, 40, died on Saturday, Jan. 23,
instantly in a snowmobile accident while in Cranberry
Lake, N.Y.
Mark was born in Ogdensburg
NY. After graduating from Madrid Waddington High
School in 1987, he went on to receive his BS in Physical
Therapy from Daemen College, Amherst, N.Y., in 1993.
Mark was employed as a physical therapist with North
Country Orthopedic Group.
Mark's lifelong passion was
Yankees baseball. He attended many Yankees games and was
very active locally with the Chaumont Softball League.
He belonged to several local clubs including the
Watertown and Malone Elks Club chapters and the
Brownville Legion.
He enjoyed summers on the water, boating and Grindstone
Island. The fall season would find Mark watching
football and muskie fishing. Mark enjoyed exploring
different cultures and had traveled to Europe
extensively.
Surviving are his wife,
Kelly Kehoe Nichols, Brownville; a daughter, Taylor Mary
Nichols, Chaumont, N.Y.; his adoptive father David
Nichols, Malone, N.Y., and his mother, Dianna Ellis,
Ohio; his maternal grandparents, Mike and Gladys Santora,
Ogdensburg; his aunt Georgia Gilmour, Ogdensburg;
two brothers, Michael Nichols, Waddington, and Matt and
Jackie Nichols, Madrid, N.Y.
His biological father, Allen
Kirby, predeceased him.
Of the many family and friends surviving Mark, none is
more important than his daughter Taylor. She was
the highlight of his life. He relished the time they
spent together.
Calling hours will be
held 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Cummings Funeral
Home, 320 John St., Clayton. Funeral Services will be
held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the River Community
Church, 38844 Bartlett Point Rd, Clayton. A reception
will be held immediately after the services at the
American Legion, 101 Washington St., Brownville.
