WATERTOWN, N.Y.
— Sally D. Becker, 75,
of S. Indiana Avenue, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 25,
at her home.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc.,
Watertown. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday,
Feb. 1, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Born Jan. 7, 1937, in Watertown, daughter of Alfred H. "Speedy" and Rose A. Netto
DeCastro, she graduated in 1954 from Watertown High School and from the House of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1957.
She married Edmund F. Becker of Albany on May 14, 1960, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Eugene Beaudet officiating.
Sally worked as an OR nurse at the House of the Good Samaritan for Dr. Anthony Flood, a general surgeon, and then as an OR nurse at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. She retired from nursing to raise her children, enjoying being a housewife and mother.
In later years, she worked part time at JoAnn Fabrics and Sears engravable gift shop.
She was a communicant of Holy Family Church, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was a member of the Elks Lodge #496. Her favorite enjoyment was spending time with her family, making cookies for and with her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed sewing, reading, and crossword puzzles.
Besides her husband, Ed, Sally is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Terese and Mark Bartlett, Adams Center, and Jennifer and John Lachenauer, Watertown;
six grandchildren, Katie, M. Andrew, and Danielle Bartlett, and Nathanial, Ethan, and Samuel
Lachenauer; a brother-in-law, Joseph J. Becker, Speigletown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to either Sisters of the Precious Blood, 400 Pratt St. or Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., both in
Watertown, NY 13601.
