WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Ernest
G. Jeican, 77, of 134 E. Hoard St. died Saturday morning at
his home.
Born April 24, 1930, in Watertown, son of Constantine and
Helen Szobo Jeican, he graduated from Watertown High School
in 1947. He later enlisted in the Air Force where he served
for three years.
He married Charmaine Files on Dec. 1, 1947, in Watertown.
She died June 1999.
He was a member and past president of both the Jefferson
County Radio Amateur Club and the North Side Improvement
League. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Church.
Mr. Jeican was an engineer for the state Department of
Transportation retiring after 25 years.
Surviving are three
daughters and their husbands, Elisa and Michael Stokes and
Patricia and Patrick Campbell all of Watertown, Cynthia and
Melvin, Sherwood, Fla.; two sons and a daughter-in-law
Timothy and Michele Jeican, Watertown, and Steven Jeican, Calif.;
seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Tammy Jeican, three sisters, Madeline Comstock,
Helen Jeican, Elsa Mitchell, and a brother, Constantine
Jeican, all died before him.
A memorial service will
be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral
Home. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at Glenwood
Cemetery in the spring.
