— Roy H.
Bancroft Sr., 77, of Route 3, died Wednesday evening, Feb.
16, in the emergency room at Carthage Area Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1933, in the town of Pitcairn, the daughter of
Alfred and Florence Fayette Bancroft, he attended
Harrisville Central School.
He married Doris Atkinson in Gouverneur on May 5,
1955.
Mr. Bancroft was a self employed logger and made maple
syrup. He retired from St. Joe Mineral in Balmat in 1985
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time
with family. He especially enjoyed spoiling his great
grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of Harrisville; three daughters and
two sons-in-law, Peggie Locke, La., Christy and Curtis
Province, Pa., and Laurie and Allen Van Tassel, Theresa; six
grandsons, a great-grandson and two great-granddaughters.
He was predeceased by a son
Roy Jr in October 2004, and a daughter Shelly, in August of
1999. His siblings, Alfred Jr., Richard, George and
Josephine Kirk, also died before him.
Calling hours will be held 2
to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Adirondack Funeral Home,
State Street, Harrisville. A graveside service in the
Harrisville Community Cemetery will be held in the spring.
In place of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the Harrisville Rescue Squad.
