Altha M. Hellinger

CARTHAGE, N.Y.  —  Altha M. Hellinger, 95, of Ashford, Conn., and formerly of Carthage, wife of the late Clarence Hellinger Sr., passed away at Rockville General Hospital on Friday, Feb. 17.

Altha and Clarence were farmers most of their lives and retired to Felts Mills. 

After Clarence passed away Altha stayed in New York awhile and finally moved in with her daughter Betty and partner P.J. in Connecticut. 

She became friends with all their friends and enjoyed parties at the lake house and other friend’s houses, and she enjoyed going to bingo and the casino as well. 

She will be missed by family and friends alike. 

Watch over us Mom - we will always love you. 

She is survived by her late daughter Dawn’s husband, Bill Hugo Sr., their son Bill Jr. and his wife Katrina; her daughter Betty and life partner, P.J. Ferron; a son, Clarence Jr., and his wife, Lyn; two sisters, Louise O’dell, Utica, and Nancy Meyers, Lyons Falls, plus many nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in Black River Cemetery in Black River with the Deacon Richard J. Staab officiating. 

Arrangements are with the Scherer Funeral Home, which is now the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
