J. "Red" Riley, 83, formerly of Griffin Street,
passed away Monday, Feb. 18, at the Samaritan Keep Home
where he had resided since August 2009.
Spring graveside services 1 p.m.
Thursday, April 18, in North Watertown Cemetery.
A prayer service was held Saturday, Feb. 23, at Reed & Benoit Funeral
Home followed by a noon Mass of the Resurrection at Our Lady
of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Jonas Tandayu
Born in Watertown a son of Lyman and Theresa O'Hara Riley,
he was raised by Ernest and Hazel Simonds and worked on
their dairy farm on Route 37, Pamelia, for 63 years.
He retired from farming in 1994.
George was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.
Surviving are a nephew, David Bertrand, Central Square;
three nieces, Theresa LaDuke, Mattydale; Carol Carrigan,
Liverpool; Leta O'Donnell, Syracuse; many great and great
great nieces and nephews; his foster brother and sister,
Glenn Simonds, New Hampshire and Marie Oakes,
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Lloyd, and
two sisters Anna (infant) and Mary Bertrand.
