Doris Langlois

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y.  —  Funeral services for Doris Langlois, 80, of 46745 Goose Bay Road, will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Costello Funeral Home.  Burial be held at a later date at Vedder Cemetery in Gallating, NY.  Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. at the funeral home.  

Mrs. Langlois died Wednesday, Feb. 27, at River Hospital. 

Born Aug. 27, 1927, on Long Island, daughter of Lester and Jane Phiester Deamer, she graduated from Patchogue High School and received her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland and her Masters from St. Lawrence University.  

She married John Langlois on Nov. 23, 1946, at the Dutch Reformed Church.  

Mrs. Langlois was a physical education teacher for 28 years at Alexandria Bay Central School, retiring in 1983.  

She was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church where she was active with the food pantry and sung in the church choir. She was a member of the historical society and was the Chamber Citizen of the Year in 1998.  

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.

Surviving are her husband, John Langlois, two sons, David, Stony Point, N.Y., and Vernon, Alexandria Bay; a daughter; Annette Nelson, Alexandria Bay; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  

A brother, Vernon Deamer, died before her.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
