Anthony F. Kloster Jr.

CASTORLAND, N.Y.  —  Anthony F. “Dudo” Kloster Jr., 61, of the Third Road, Castorland, died Saturday afternoon, March 1, at his home, while under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.

A graveside service will be held 1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Beaches Bridge Cemetery, Watson. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

orn July 24, 1946, in Lowville, a son of Anthony and Muriel Pate Kloster, he attended Beaver River Central School.  

He married Bonnie J. Hirschey on Oct. 28, 1978, at the Lowville United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirby officiating.  

Mr. Kloster worked on the Nuffer Farm in Forest City for his mother and step-father for many years and was a partner with Bruce Turck in a logging business for several years. He cut and sold firewood for many years until his illness.  

He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Jodi L. Kloster of Castorland, Annie Blake, Watertown; his mother, Muriel Nuffer of Castorland; a step-daughter, Tina Casler, Penn Yan; two sisters and their husbands, Sally A. and Ronald Hoffman, West Carthage, Elaine R. and Donald Brouty, Castorland; three half-sister, Jane M. Nuffer, Castorland, Jen and her husband, Dwight Pate, Croghan, Julie Kloster, Castorland; four brothers and their wives, Larry J. Kloster of Copenhagen, Dale E. and Julie Kloster, Lowville, Duane H. and Diane Kloster, Castorland, Daryl A. and Marge Kloster of Castorland, a sister-in-law, Joyce Kloster of Copenhagen; seven half-brothers and their wives, Lynn and Cathy Nuffer, Royal Nuffer , and Keith Nuffer, all of Castorland, Robert “Poncho” and Rosie Kloster, Allen and Tressa Kloster, William Kloster, all of Croghan, Gary Kloster of Syracuse; three step-brothers, Michael G. Nuffer of Lowville; Richard W. Nuffer of Cicero, Donald D. Nuffer of Biloxi, Mississippi; a step-sister, Beverly J. Harris of Chittenango;three granddaughters, Briannia Mullin, Larissa Blake, and Elissa Lewis; three step-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  

He was predeceased by a son, Kim J. Kloster who died March 14, 1983; his father, Anthony Kloster Sr.; his step-father, Darwin Nuffer, who died on Jan. 20, 2003; a half-sister, Gail Largett; and a stepbrother, Jacob N. Nuffer. 

The funeral was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, with Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, pastor of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, and Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired Methodist minister, co-officiating. A gathering at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall, Main Street, Croghan, followed the funeral service. 

Calling hours were held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.
