Elizabeth L. Kerr

LYONS FALLS, N.Y.  —  Elizabeth L. Kerr, 86, of Fish Creek Road, died Saturday evening, March 13, at her home under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice. 

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Lowville Baptist Church with Rev. Everett F. Reed, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Old Glendale Cemetery. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Iseneker Funeral Home Inc. 5702 Waters Rd., Lowville, N.Y.  

Born Nov. 30, 1923, in Cuyler, New York, a daughter of the late Robert and Helen Carter Lauber and graduated in 1941 from Lowville Academy. During World War II, Elizabeth was an aircraft spotter in Lowville and worked at Meda’s Corner Pharmacy. She also worked for McOmber Electric and Carl’s Auto Supply for a time.  

She married Randolph E. Kerr on Dec. 14, 1945, at Lowville Baptist Church with Rev. William Sawin, Pastor, officiating. 

Mrs. Kerr raised her family and was a homemaker. While her children were young, she served as President of the PTA at General Martin School, Glenfield.   

She was a member of Lowville Baptist Chuch, where she served as past president of the church youth group. She also taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.  Her ancestors were charter members of Lowville Baptist Church. One of whom was the first Principal of Lowville Free Academy.  

Mrs. Kerr served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers’ Association in Osceola, N,Y. She also served on the Board of Election for the Town of Greig. 

She enjoyed flower gardening, painting, quilting, and spending time with her family.  

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Randolph E. “Randy” Kerr Sr., five children, Lynne E. Kerr and her husband, J.D. Small of Lansing, Michigan, Gaile E. Kerr Sharpe of Rensselaer, NY, Randy Kerr Jr. and his wife, Cindy Kerr of Greenwich, NY, Kevin Kerr and his wife, Susan Kerr of Clifton Park, NY, Michael Kerr and his wife, Lisa Kerr of Whitinsville, Massachusetts, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Post of Black River, NY, many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A brother, Robert Lauber Jr., died before her.
