Kenneth L. Webster

PORT LEYDEN, N.Y.  —  Kenneth L. Webster, 87, of North Pearl Street, died Wednesday morning, March 16, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, Lowville. 

There will be no calling hours or funeral.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Port Leyden Cemetery.  

Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. 

Born May 4, 1923, in the town of Lyonsdale, N.Y., a son of the late Earl E. and Ruth E. Gardner Webster, he attended school in Kosterville. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps from January 1943 until his honorable discharge in January 1946.  

He married Mildred L. Snyder on Aug. 3, 1946, at the bride’s parent’s home in Port Leyden. Mrs. Webster died Jan. 1, 2008.  

Mr. Webster worked for his brother-in-law at Percy Scouten’s Esso Station in Port Leyden as a mechanic until 1966. He was employed by the South Lewis Central School from 1966 until 1987, retiring after 21 years of service.   

Mr. Webster was a longtime member of the J.S. Koster Hose Company Fire Department, Port Leyden.  He was a member of the Millerbrook and Fallbrook Hunting Clubs.  

He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, hunting and fishing. 

Surviving are six children, a daughter and her husband, Linda A. and John “Jack” Jones, Remsen; a daughter, Nancy L. Rogers, Port Leyden; a daughter and her husband, Wanda L. and Harold Nellenback Jr., Remsen; a son, Kenneth L. Webster, Jr. and his companion, Kelly Warner, Boonville; a daughter, Susan E. Carman, Port Leyden; a daughter, Deborah M. Webster, Port Leyden; a grandson, Joseph Webster, who they raised; a sister, Faithe Burchard of Glens Falls; two sisters-in-law, Betty Webster of Forestport; Betty Ebel, Kinderhook, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

Two brothers, Ernest and Richard Webster; and three sisters, Grace Scouten, Jessie Vollmer, and Alice Reese, all died before him.
