GLENFIELD, N.Y.  —  Katherine R. “Kitty” Mezey, 68, of Brantingham Road, Greig, died unexpectedly, Saturday afternoon, March 17, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she was undergoing short term rehab and recovery due to pneumonia. 

A private funeral service will held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glenfield. Burial will be in Brantingham Cemetery.

Born Sept. 24, 1943, in Watertown, a daughter of the late Norbert and Betty Kenyon Karl, she graduated from General Brown High School.  

She married Jack Mezey Sr. in December 1985. Mr. Mezey died March 17, 1993. 

Mrs. Mezey had worked for U.S. Healthcare since 2003.

Kitty was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.  

She enjoyed family gatherings, her pets, watching sports, reading and doing puzzles.

Surviving are three children, Michelle Ferrance and her finace’, Philip Lustyik, Ruther Glen, Va., Amy Jo Ferrance and her companion, Ben Nellenback, Glenfield, and Bradley Ferrance and his companion, Linda, Jacksonville, Fla.; three step children, Jack and Debbie Mezey, Glenfield, Julie and Timothy Myers, Spencerport, Jodi and Mike Gasparek, Jordan; three siblings, Michael and Dara Karl, Benicia, Calif., Karleen and Charles Savage, Watertown, Michele and Scott Thatcher, Glen Park; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kitty’s family, in C/O Amy Ferrance, 6128 Donnattsburg Road, Glenfield, NY 13343, to help with final expenses.
