Edward P. Morak

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Edward P. Morak, 85, of 6943 Number Four Road, died Thursday morning, March 19, at his home under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice. 

A private funeral will be held at Iseneker Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, with Rev. Christopher J. Looby, parochial vicar, officiating.  Spring burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.

Born Jan. 25, 1924, in Somerset, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Julia Wojnarowski Morak, he moved to Route 26, Martinsburg at age 3, and attended rural school on Route 26.  

He purchased the family dairy farm from his father in 1947, and owned and operated a second dairy farm on Route 26 in Martinsburg.  In 1972, Mr. Morak sold one dairy farm, and operated the second farm until retiring in 1985. He helped his brother Raymond with farm haying and other farm work. 

A previous marriage to Sophie Sweredoski ended in divorce. 

Mr. Morak was a communicant of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville.  

He was a member of the National Rifle Association.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheeler.  He also enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul Morak, Lowville, Daniel and Colleen Morak, Lowville, and Randy and Roxanne Morak, Martinsburg; a daughter and her husband, Joann and Jerry Gorczyca, Glenfield; a brother, Richard Morak, Lyons Falls; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  

A brother, Raymond Morak, and two sisters, Alice Demko and Mary Slowik, died before him.
